I listened as she processed.
It was the second suicide on the same family in just as many months.
They had cleaned up after both of them.
Pausing she said...
"sorry, you don't need to hear this."
My reply
"I'm a cop's wife."
That one phrase opened up the line for her to unload and I hope she does it again.
After five years of accidents, arrests, suicides, sudden deaths, domestics, burned bodies, shootings, mental health emergencies...there isn't much that is shocking to hear anymore.
I'm thankful I only have to hear about it though.
To those that carry the heaviness of experiencing it, I can't even begin to fathom it.
It's a privilege to listen.
